Four or Five students have been pre-selected by the benevolent dictator to discuss the document or topic at hand.
Questions have been provided to prompt the conversation.
Observers may pose additional questions, but only those in the bowl can answer or discuss them.
When there is a "Round 2," the group in the bowl will become observers and the second group of discussion candidates will take seats in the bowl.
When the Round 2 discussion concludes (and if time allows), students who have not had an opportunity to be in the bowl may ask someone in the bowl to trade places with them, and the conversation continues.
As always, at the conclusion of the fishbowl you should respond to the following questions: Consider your role in the discussion (participant or observer): what about the discussion helped your understanding of the content and discussion process? when did you struggle? Why?
